There
is also the celebration of the feast of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo or
the traslacion that happens on Jan 9 where millions of Catholics join
in to pray to Jesus the Nazarene and bring his image from Luneta to
Quaipo. This 400 year old tradition has been faithfully followed by
Filipinos and even pilgrims from provinces flock to Manila for the
celebration.
And
of course, the highlight of the year is the Papal Visit of Pope Francis
in the Philippines on January 15-18, 2018. The visit will include a
visit to Yolanda stricken places like Tacloban in Leyte. With the theme
Mercy and Compassion, there has been months of preparation as well as
the anticipation for the Pope that has won hearts around the world with
his charisma and passion for the poor and needy.
And
this is just the first month, we look forward to see more activities
and celebrations for Katolikong Kabataan and the Catholic Youth of the
Philippines. Mabuhay and Happy New Year 2015!
